GAS FIREPLACE REPAIR
Gas fireplace repair in Vaughan and surrounding areas
When a gas fireplace won't light, shuts off on its own or the flame doesn't look right, the cause is usually one component in the pilot, control or venting circuit. We test before replacing parts and confirm pricing with you before any work begins.
Find the cause first.
Then repair with the correct parts.
WHAT WE SEE MOST
Common gas fireplace problems we repair.
Tell us which one sounds like yours when you request service. A photo of the rating plate (usually behind the lower grille) helps us arrive prepared.
Pilot won't light or stay lit
Often a weak thermocouple or thermopile, a dirty pilot assembly, or a pilot flame that no longer touches the sensor properly.
Pilot is lit, burner won't come on
Usually a low thermopile output, a faulty wall switch or remote receiver, loose wiring, or a gas valve problem.
Fireplace shuts off after a few minutes
Can point to weak millivolt output once the unit heats up, a venting or draft problem, or a safety switch doing its job.
Remote or wall switch doesn't work
We check receiver batteries and settings, the receiver module, the switch and the wiring back to the valve.
Clicking but no flame
On electronic-ignition units we test the igniter, flame sensor, control module and power or battery backup.
Soot, yellow or lazy flame
Often caused by logs or media out of position, a dirty burner, an air setting problem or a venting issue. It should be checked before continued use.
Red-tagged fireplace
Show us the tag or a photo of it. We review the condition listed, quote the correction and complete the work.
Smell or noise on startup
A light odour on the first fire of the season is common. A strong or persistent smell, or new noises, should be checked.
Gas safety: if you smell gas or a carbon monoxide alarm sounds, leave the building right away and call 911 from outside. Don't use switches, phones or flames inside. This page and the request form are not for emergencies.

QUESTIONS
Common questions.
Is it safe to keep relighting a pilot that keeps going out?
Repeated relighting doesn't fix the cause. Turn the fireplace off and request service. If you smell gas, don't try to light anything: leave the building and call 911 from outside.
Should I replace the whole fireplace if it stops working?
Usually not. Most no-flame and shut-off problems come down to one component. We test first and explain the repair before any replacement is discussed.
What should I have ready before the visit?
The brand and model from the rating plate, a description of what happens when you try to light it, and any tag left by the gas utility or an inspector.
Do you only repair, or also do maintenance?
Both. See gas fireplace maintenance for what an annual service includes.
